Four things decide what a tank swap costs in a Toronto house. We check all four before quoting, which is why the number does not change on install day.
40 versus 50 gallon changes the equipment cost. Bigger is not always better; recovery rate does the real work.
A conventional tank vents up a chimney. A power-vent tank pushes exhaust out a side wall with a fan and costs more, but it is what many newer homes need.
Most swaps reuse the existing gas line. If the line, the shut-off valve, or the drip leg is not to code, that gets fixed and priced.
Corroded fittings, a missing expansion tank, or a drain pan that never existed. We flag these up front rather than on the invoice.
